Institutional Eye Care can supply eyeglasses to meet the needs of any correctional facility.
Specifically, Institutional Eye Care’s optical lab will fabricate complete finished eyeglasses from prescriptions received from the correctional site’s optometrist and/or facility Health Service Administrator. At this time, standard eyeglass orders are being SHIPPED IN LESS THAN 3 BUSINESS DAYS of order receipt. Institutional Eye Care guarantees completed standard eyeglasses shipped within ten business days of order receipt.
Completed eyeglasses are returned UPS Ground or Priority US Mail to each corrections site for fast conveyance and to assure verification of on site delivery and date. Eyeglass orders can be placed by US Mail, Fax or E-mail.
Institutional Eye Care employs ABOC certified opticians for eyeglass fabrication, testing and inspection duties. Our lab is equipped with patternless Santinelli edging equipment allowing prescription eyeglass lens tolerances to within 0.1 millimeters which greatly exceeds all current standards.
All prescription eyeglasses meet or exceed ANSI Z-80 dress safety standards and FDA dress safety requirements. Prescription eyeglass lenses are clear plastic single vision or ST-28 bifocals. Tints, contact lenses and other optical options for eyeglasses are not recommended and only provided when medically indicated.
Institutional Eye Care will supply a selection of standard male and female eyeglass frame styles in multiple sizes to meet the functional visual needs of any inmate. All Institutional Eye Care eyeglass frames carry a one guarantee against breakage due to manufacturing defect.
Secure Frames with no metal reinforcing rods are available to our clients. This Secure option is available in multiple frame styles for both men and women. Our most popular Secure frame style comes in 10 sizes to fit virtually every inmate.
Upgraded eyeglass frame styles and other prescription lens options will be provided only when medically indicated or approved in advance by the correctional facility’s Health Services Administrator or Medical Director.
Prescription order slips, our Fax number and E-mail address will also be provided to each correctional facility.
All completed eyeglasses will be returned to the correctional facility with a “Vision Safety Notice” to the inmate. By explaining in writing to each eyeglass recipient the expectations and limitations of their new eyeglasses this notice affords the correctional facility, examining optometrist, and Institutional Eye Care a further degree of liability protection.
Institutional Eye Care will provide complete phone support Monday through Friday to any correction site during our normal business hours - 8:30 am to 4:30 pm EST. Our lab manager will be the designated contact person regarding eyeglass order questions. Additionally Institutional Eye Care’s owner, Jeffrey R. Lose, OD will be available to any site for technical consultation.
Billing occurs monthly to each correctional facility. Only eyeglasses shipped are billed. Institutional Eye Care utilizes custom computer eyeglass billing software designed specifically for correctional work. Listing by inmate name, number and date of services are part of Institutional Eye Care’s routine billing format. Customization to meet any unique billing requirements of any correctional facility for eyeglass services can be implemented.
